Nigel McBride (b. 1990) is a British composer and researcher whose work investigates performance practice through notational and structural processes. He undertook his doctoral research at Magdalen College, in University of Oxford, and was funded the Arts and Humanities Research Council, and academic awards from the University. While at Oxford, he founded and convened The Composers' Forum, the Oxford University Laptop Orchestra (OxLOrk), and taught musicology and composition, both electronic and acoustic, extensively. Before studying at Oxford, he was a student at Queen's University, Belfast.

His research primarily focuses on philosophical approaches to compositional and musicological issues. Nigel is the co-editor and a contributor to the Critical Perspectives on the Music of Michael Finnissy: Bright Futures, Dark Pasts (Routledge, 2019).

Nigel's compositions have been performed across the UK, Europe, and the USA, including at the Barbican, Holywell Music Room, Spectrum in New York City, The Philadelphia Art Alliance, Unerhörte Musik, the Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, Darmstadt, and the Lilypad (Cambridge, MA).
