Sylvain Marty (studied philosophy) and became interested early in contemporay jazz and improvised music. He interest in timbre and formal problematics naturally led to contemporary music. He studied at the Conservatory in Clermont-ferrand before studying composition for five years with Frédéric Durieux, prof. of CNSMDP. He then joined master classes where he was able to explore his ideas with professors as Chaya Czernowin, F. Bedrossian, F. Filidei , M. Stroppa , Y. Robin, G. Aperghis.
He has worked with several ensembles including, Multilatéral (Paris ), Riot (Londres), Schallfeld Ensemble (Gratz), Le Balcon (Paris), L’Itinéraire (Paris), Syneasthésis Ensemble (Vilnius), Op.Cit (Lyon), Lucilin, Fractales (Bruxelles) … His encounters with improvisers like M. Doneda, J. Di Donato, and JL. Guionnet were very formative in the field of sound expérimentation.
His pieces have been performed at Darmstadt, GAIDA (Lithuania), Rainy days (Luxembourg), Impuls festival (Graz), Festival des musiques démesurées (Clermont-Fd), New music Brighton festival, Berlin with Initiative Neue Musik, … A “carte blanche” Sacem is produced for his collaboration with Antoine Danis for music composition of creative documentaries.
He composed “Athens Rhapsody”, supported by the CNC (With L’EOC).
