Asia Ahmetjanova is Latvian composer, based in Lucerne, Switzerland. She is working in different compositional and conceptual genres, connected to sound, theatre, beats, texts. The inner communication of the performer with her/his instrument and body and questioning the situations of everyday life through the performance stay as the main focus of her work.
Asia’s pieces were performed at such festivals and music series as New Music Days (Lucerne), Darmstädter Ferienkurse (Darmstadt), Laborneunzehn (Berlin), Sound Plasma (Berlin), Unerhört (Berlin) among others.
In Latvia her composition teacher was Imants Zemzaris, in Switzerland – Dieter Ammann, Bernhard Lang, Enno Poppe, Wolfgang Rihm and Carola Bauckholt.
Asia Ahmetjanova is a member of Swiss new music ensemble “Ensemble ö!” and a pianist at Hochschule Luzern - Musik.
