Miro Dobrowolny was born in Zagreb in 1959. He studied musics in Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Cologne, focusing violin, composition (with Dimitri Terzakis), conducting, chamber music (with the Amadeus quartet) and musicology. Dobrowolny has written works for various instrumentations, such as solo works, chamber music, orchestral works and music theater. In 1986 he founded the ART Ensemble NRW, which Dobrowolny is the conductor of.
